UCUES provides insights on student opinions and experiences.
The University of California Undergraduate Experience Survey (UCUES) is given at all UC undergraduate campuses every two years. It solicits student opinions on a broad range of academic and co-curricular topics, including instruction, academic major, advising, study abroad, and overall satisfaction with the UC Davis academic and social experience.
The survey provides information about students' academic engagement, food and housing security, and the campus climate, such as the respect received from faculty, staff, and administrators. UCUES also examines students' perceptions regarding how their awareness and skills have changed since starting at UC Davis. To gain a better picture of how experiences may differ among students, the survey collects information about demographics such as gender identity and preferences such as political affiliation.
Data from UCUES have been used in institutional and administrative research, as well as various instructional and scholarly research. Findings have been well-integrated into policy discussions and learning outcomes assessment at the University of California to guide the University on improving the undergraduate experience.
